Florida Governor Orders Residents to Stay Home to Avoid Coronavirus
[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]After consulting with the President and White House Advisors, Gov. Ron DeSantis has officially signed an order directing Florida residents to stay at home. The order requires “all persons in Florida to limit their movements and personal interactions outside of their home” to essential services for the next 30 days.
Florida is the third largest state in the country where a quarter of the population is older than 60 and the economy relies on tourism, including the young spring break visitors who may have helped spread the virus. The virus poses a unique risk for the sunshine state.
On Tuesday DeSantis said one of the reasons he did not extend the order to stay home statewide was because the White House coronavirus task force had made no such recommendation. However, once the White House extended national guidelines of social distancing to April 30, DeSantis started to realize the necessity of a statewide order.
