The lobby of the Emma Lou Olson Civic Center is set to undergo renovations that will include a new reception desk, new lobby furniture, new flooring and acoustic tiling, new signage, an updated fire sprinkler system, new systems furniture that is ADA compliant and new recessed LED light fixtures. The floor will be brought up to ADA compliance by adding the proper ADA transitions at doorways.
The project is anticipated to start in December 2018, and should be completed by March 2019, according to Horacio Danovich, the city’s capital improvements program manager. The lobby will be fully operational during renovation, as work will be phased to accommodate regular business hours.
This is the first makeover for the lobby of the civic center, which was built in 1988. Since then, the high-traffic lobby area has experienced wear and tear and its design has become outdated, said Danovich.
A contract was awarded to ARK Construction to carry out the renovations at a cost of $112,654.
