Development Plans for Downtown Pompano to be Unveiled
On May 3 the Pompano Beach Community Redevelopment Association (CRA) will be hosting a public forum featuring presentations by two short-listed developers who responded to an invitation to negotiate for the right to develop a little more than 75 acres of public land along the I-95 corridor.
The meeting, which will take place in the Pompano Beach Cultural Center, will unveil the developers as well as their plans. After the public forum has concluded, a team of negotiators will begin the arduous process of coming to a final agreement. There is not an expected timeline for when the project might be awarded.
“We are looking forward to introducing these Master Developers to our residents, business owners, and stakeholders,” said Nguyen Tran, CRA Director, in a press release. “This workshop will provide an exciting opportunity for the public to view each proposer’s plan for the downtown, while providing input about the specifics of each plan.”
Major investment from the City in the form of a $180 million General Obligation Bond that went to funding a multitude of citywide improvements including new and refurbished parks, a new beachfront and pier, improved streetscapes, and much more. Also, a commuter rail stop planned is also in the works for the middle of the downtown, which consists of residential, municipal, commercial and cultural districts.
“Two new luxury apartment projects, restaurants and cultural buildings were all drawn to the area based on aggressive public investment by the City and its CRA,” the press release said.
