June 3 – Center for Working Families Orientation
The Center for Working Families (CWF) provides a space to overcome hurdles that may be holding an individual or family back by helping them to create a step-by-step plan for attaining their long-term goals. Through the coaching process, clients will focus on financial education, asset building, job training, career advancement, public benefits screenings and identifying personal goals for a successful financial future. Attendance and participation in the orientation is mandatory for access into CWF, which provides access to urban league’s employment services, public benefits screening, asset building services and financial services.
When: June 3 from 5:30 to 7:30pm. Please plan to arrive at least ten minutes prior to orientation as it will begin promptly. Entrance into the orientation will close at 5:45pm and no one will be allowed to enter afterwards.

June 3 – 7 – Bright & Smart Robotics Week Summer Camp
This robotics summer camp for kids ages 6 to 14 is fun and educational. Bright & Smart teaches kids basic engineering and computer programming skills and facilitates the development of 21st century learning skills, such as: information and media literacy; critical thinking and problem solving; and interpersonal and collaborative skills through Lego robotics.

When: June 3 – 7 from 10am-3pm; Aftercare available from 3 to 5pm through Uptown Art

June 3 – Aug. 9 – Summer Skate Camp
This summer skate camp hosted by Island Water Sports (IWS) is a blast. Campers are dropped off in the morning between 8:30 and 9am, then head to a local skate park for skateboarding and other activities. Campers will arrive back at Island Water Sports for pick up in the afternoon betwen 3 and 3:30pm. Skate camps are great for ages 8-16. Junior counselors, ages 17-18, can also participate.
Island Camps has over 25 years of experience. These convenient camps allow kids to have a summer camp experience right in their backyard while exploring some of the best skate parks in the area. Skate camp caters to all skaters from beginners to advanced, working with each individual skater based on their skill level. Counselors also give trick tips and conduct games to make learning fun. IWS has very knowledgeable staff that can teach all skaters how to progress in their individual skateboarding skills.
When: June 3rd – August 9th. Participants can book by the day or week.

June 4 – An Outrageous Concert: Happy Together Tour 2019
Revisit all the greatest hits of the ’60s and ’70s. Happy Together Tour featuring The Turtles, Chuck Negron, Gary Puckett & The Union Gap, The Buckinghams, The Classics IV and The Cowsills.
When: June 4; Doors open at 7pm; Show at 8pm

Starting June 5 – Free 8-Week Culinary Business Workshop
Pompano Beach’s CRA has created a Culinary Incubator Program at the E. Pat Larkins Community Center. The incubator program will hopefully blossom into an active community kitchen and culinary center. The CRA envisions the center becoming an economic engine for the community, providing burgeoning culinary entrepreneurs with guidance, support and a kitchen to help grow their businesses.
The facility will also operate as a commercial kitchen where food trucks, caterers and other food service providers, from any city, can rent the space to prepare food and receive the technical assistance needed to establish and grow their businesses. In addition, the space will host cooking classes by local chefs and free programs to introduce local youth to culinary careers.
The Incubator Program has started a series of eight workshops. The next workshop will take place on April 10 and is free for all Pompano Beach residents. June 5 – City of Pompano Beach Nonprofit Resource Fair
The City of Pompano Beach will be hosting a nonprofit fair for residents to learn more about the nonprofit organizations funded by the City and the services they offer. Parking is available directly behind the RaceTrac on Atlantic at NW 6th Ave/Blanche Ely.

June 5 & June 19 – Lyrics Lab at BaCA
Lyrics Lab is an open mic night for all creatives. Poetry, music, live painting, comedy, magic — all are welcome. Beer, wine and kombucha are available for purchase.

June 6 — Lunch with Art: Poetry Edition at the Cultural Center
Take a break from your day, bring your lunch and unleash your creativity while creating poetry. Each first Thursday of the month at Pompano Beach Cultural Center guests will create, listen or watch different poems designed to spark the artist in you. Each workshop encourages guests to step out and explore their writing potential.

June 6 — South Florida Longboard Association Monthly Meeting
Join the South Florida Longboard Association on the first Thursday of every month. Come earlier for dinner, enjoy a meeting about all the great things happening in the surf community and end the night with a fun raffle.

June 7 — Punk Prom Against Bullying
Friday, June 7th is Punk Prom at American Rock Bar. The event will feature an incredible lineup of ten bands. Plus, there will be a best “worst” prom outfit contest, raffles and drink specials. This show is in support of a group of local students who were victims of a nasty prom prank and were bullied as a result. American Rock Bar and the participating bands wants them to know that their community has their backs and believes that bullying in all its forms is wrong and needs to be stopped. Come out to support the cause.

June 7 – Slightly Stoopid With Tribal Seeds, Matisyahu & HIRIE at the Amp
Slightly Stoopid describes their music as “a fusion of folk, rock, reggae and blues with hip-hop, funk, metal and punk.” The Ocean Beach, California-based group is led by co-founders and multi-instrumentalists Kyle McDonald and Miles Doughty, along with drummer Ryan “Rymo” Moran; percussionist Oguer “OG” Ocon; saxophonist Daniel “Dela” Delacruz; keyboardist Paul Wolstencroft; trumpet and trombone player Andy Geib; plus special guest and “unofficial 8th member” Karl Denson (The Rolling Stones/Greyboy Allstars) on saxophone.
Tribal Seeds, Matisyahu and HIRIE all share a distinct reggae rock groove sure to swoon you.

June 7 – Old Town Untapped
This community street fair is the place to be every First Friday in Pompano Beach. A live DJ stage, free beer samples, artisans market, a dozen food trucks, open art galleries, Odd Breed Wild Ales, fire fountain demonstrations and a lively crowd all make for a festive evening.
When: First Fridays from 6 to 9pm
Where: Old Town Pompano, 41 NE First St., Pompano Beach.

June 8 – Fabric Covered Mini-Journal Workshop at BaCA
Fabric covered mini-journal is a workshop taught by BaCA’s Artist in Residence, Andrea Huffman. Embark on a journey, real or imagined ,with your own extraordinary fabric covered journal. A small, personal stamp will be designed, carved and then printed on fabric for the book cover. Pages will be created using a variety of design techniques, including stenciling, stamping, and painting. A selection of threads and other embellishments can be used to make each journal truly unique. Along with the journal, participants will also leave with their hand-carved stamp to use on future projects.
When: June 8 from 11am to 3pm

June 8 – Boats, Burgers & Brews
FB Marine Group will host Boats, Burgers & Brews, which will feature a showing of FB’s latest line of boats, cold brews, food trucks and free face painting for the kids.
When: Saturday June 8 from noon to 3pm

June 9 – Soulful Sundays
Soulful Sundays features South Florida’s top performers and bands in various genres ranging from soul, R&B, neo soul, blues to jazz and funk. Merging local and national artists, the program creates an unforgettable monthly musical experience that enriches and celebrates the history and culture of the African American community in Pompano Beach.
When: Every 2nd Sunday of the month from 6 to 9pm. Gates open at 6pm. Show starts at 6:30pm
