CELEBRATE NATIONAL BURGER MONTH! Top Burger Joints in Pompano Beach and Deerfield Beach
[vc_row][vc_column][vc_single_image image=”7808″ img_size=”full” add_caption=”yes”][vc_column_text]Just in time for the summer season and Memorial Day weekend, May is National Hamburger Month. The Sun-Sentinel recently came up with their best burgers under ten dollars in South Florida list and two local Deerfield Beach restaurants made the list. We also wanted to know where to find the best hamburgers in Pompano Beach so we went to social media to see which ones you picked as your favorites.
Tucker Duke’s Lunchbox
1101 S. Powerline Road, Deerfield Beach, 954-708-2035; 1658 N. Federal Highway, Boca Raton, 561-717-8153; TuckerDukes.com
Tucker Duke’s is a burger joint with some personality. Some unique burgers to try a include the famous Mondragon (six slices of bacon, sunny egg, two slices American, two slices cheddar, Tucker sauce, spring mix and tomato); the Spicy Lola, which won the 2015 riverwalk burger battle. It’s topped with English cheddar, bacon, red onion confit, crisply potato sticks, a jalapeño jam, spring mix and tomato. Or try the Gran Dada, which won the 2015 Boca Raton burger battle. It’s topped with smoked gouda, bacon, chipotle mayo, fried leeks, maple bacon, onion chutney, spring mix and tomato. Plus they have fried pickles and taco tater-tots. EDITORS NOTE: While the Sun-Sentinel listed Tucker Dukes in the “Under $10 category”, many of their hamburgers are priced higher. None the less, it is nice to see Tri-County recognition for a local Deerfield Beach restaurant.
Charm City Burger Company
1136 E. Hillsboro Blvd., Deerfield Beach; 954-531-0300 or CharmCityBurgerCo.com
Find out why Charm City Burger consistently makes national and local best lists, including: “Top 10 Burgers: Burger Beast vs. Mike Mayo”; “50 Best Burgers in America” on msn.com; a New Times Best in South Florida; Food Network and USA Today.
You can order any burger as a third a pound charm blend, a third a pound grass-fed beef, or a half pound Wagyu beef. A few options include: the Cowboy Burger (with thick-cut peppered bacon, cheddar, shrooms and grilled onions; the Volcano Burger (with pepper jack cheese, a volcano sauce and pickled jalapeno); or the Forager (with aged white cheddar, grilled mushrooms, pickled tomato, arugula and a garlic aioli.
Not only does Charm City have incredible hamburgers, but the chicken sandwiches (there’s five to choose from) are equally awesome.
Burgers & Suds
360 E. McNab Road, Pompano Beach. Call 954-772-8007, or visit burgerssuds.com.
Burgers & Suds make some extreme burgers, all from scratch, all named after notorious criminals. We see why. The burgers are so extreme, it feels as if you are committing a crime by devouring one. Some standouts include:
Rays Rodeo Burger (with BBQ sauce, pepper jack cheese, bacon, an oversized onion ring, lettuce and tomato); the Mexican Cartel Burger (with pepper jack cheese, guacamole, salsa and sour cream); the Smuggler Burger (with American cheese, bacon, an over easy egg, maple syrup, hash browns, ketchup and cartelized onions); the Wilson Burger (smothered in mac and cheese and bacon); and the Gambino Burger (with provolone cheese, pepperoni, marinara sauce, peppers, lettuce, tomato and onion).
Jack’s Old Fashion Hamburger House
591 S Cypress Rd, Pompano Beach, FL 33060 or call (954) 942-2844
5 Girls Burgers
(954) 783-8889; 2659 E. Atlantic Blvd.
This hole-in-the-wall burger joint is a little more classic than most on this list — juicy, greasy, diner-esque burgers, but they also offer up some interesting variations. Try the “Dime Piece” (a Kobe beef burger with sautéed mushrooms, sautéed onions and white american cheese) or the “Black and Beautiful (a blackened beef burger with blue cheese crumbles and bacon). Plus, they too, have tater-tots.
